How to get there

Weekend Getting to Bayfield

Bayfield sits on the shores of Lake Superior — a small town with big skies. Choose your route:

Via Chicago (ORD)

Option 1 — The Baraati Road Trip.

Arrive at ORD on August 20th morning. A fun-filled scenic road trip with food stops, music, and masti!

Option 2 — Fly Closer

Chicago (ORD) Ironwood, MI (IWD). Then ~45 min to destination.

Via Minneapolis (MSP)

Option 1 — The Baraati Road Trip.

Arrive by Aug 20th, 5 PM or Aug 21st, 11 AM

Driving Yourself?

If you live in the Chicagoland area and enjoy road trips — absolutely drive up! The drive is beautiful, especially as you get closer to Lake Superior.

Guest accommodations have been arranged at The Hotel Chequamegon (Best Western), Ashland, WI — a short, scenic drive to all our venues.

Saturday’s reception is at The Landings — most guests stay there, so you can change for the after-party.

what to bring

Pack like a Bayfield pro

Definitely bring

  • A warm layer or wrap — it gets CHILLY by the lake at night.
  • Comfortable shoes for Friday’s outdoor cottage evening (uneven ground).
  • Something to dress up in for Saturday’s reception.
  • Linens / soft pastels / sun hat for Sunday brunch.
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen, a refillable bottle, and a sense of humour.
  • Phone charger — for all the photos you’ll insist on taking.

Please don't bring

  • No gifts — cash or kind. Anything received is passed unopened to Share a Smile charity supporting seniors.
  • Stiff plans — the weekend works best on lake time.
  • Stress, FOMO, or anything urgent. It can wait till Monday.

Apostle Islands National Lakeshore

Sea caves, sailing trips, kayak tours and lighthouse cruises out of Bayfield Harbor.

Madeline Island

Quick ferry across to Big Bay State Park — beaches, biking and the cutest little La Pointe village.

Orchards & town

Bayfield apple country, lakeside cafés, farm stands, and slow Saturday-morning markets.

Mt. Ashwabay & trails

Easy summer hikes and overlooks if you want a leg-stretch with a view.

Lake sunrise + coffee

Drag yourself out for one early morning. The lake earns the early alarm.

Shop local

Locally-made art, ceramics, candles and small-batch goodness up and down Rittenhouse Ave.
